On a slick playing surface, Milton United came away with a share of the spoils in the first encounter of the season with local rivals Abingdon United.
After a slow and sluggish start from the Marron and Blue, the first goal of the game came for Abingdon, following a free kick thrown into the box and the following scramble the ball found itself at the feet of Kieran Cochrane who tucked home from close range.
Milton equalised following a long range effort from Jack Bernasconi, skimming off the surface passed the goalkeeper, following some nice build up play.
Abingdon then regained the lead via a cross from their left, Griffiths came out to take it, crashed into his full-back Burnasconi with the ball dropping to the feet of the striker. Somehow he hit the post with the goal gaping, yet the rebound fell to Cochrane who grabbed his second of the game. 2-1 at the Break.
Following the half time whistle, Milton were getting back to their usual selves, and equalised in some style. Ollie Thomas with a direct free kick, 30 yards out and left of centre managed to find the top right hand corner. 2-2 and game on.
Following a period of Milton domination, Abingdon started to look threatening on the counter and made Milton pay in such fashion. A through ball from the right back position was latched onto by Dan Hunt who slammed the ball home from the right of the box, into Griffiths' top corner. 3-2 with 15 to go.
Milton hit back rather quickly through another free kick from Ollie Thomas. Nice build up play prior to the fee kick placed right of centre and Thomas emphatically dispatched leaving the keeper standing.
There was just enough time for Bernasconi and Cochrane to get themselves sent off before the final whistle.
The paying public left entertained with a 3-3 result.
