Stonehouse report
I think we can all agree it was nice to get back to league action. After a poor performance in the week and being knocked out the cup we wanted to bounce back with a win. The game was a strange one to digest. We started very much in control of the game. In my opinion there was no question we were the better team. However we struggled to break them down through poor decision making and lack of quality. We finally broke the deadlock however it was only through a mistake from the opposition keeper. We scored at perfect time with some good play and great finish from Harry Thomas right before half time.
We knew as a squad that we needed to take control second half and not let them get into the game. However even though we scored first from another great goal from Harry Thomas who actually went onto be the man of the match. We never looked in full control and it became a frustrating afternoon for all. We over committed and lost the ball resulting in working a lot harder than we needed too. We also should have scored a lot more goals. I have high standards as do the boys but I think I’m reflection and after the game when we spoke. We need to remember that we are unbeaten at home in the league and we just won 3-0 keeping a clean sheet. For me personally I thought our back 4 were the best 4 players on the pitch and should be praised for the clean sheet.
We move on to a big week for the club, one league game then the big vase game. We have a few players out and having the week off will be a perfect time for the boys to recover while the rest of them will be working hard in preparation for next week.
