Milton United v Pershore Town

We travelled to Pershore with both teams being undefeated in the league. We knew we was in for a tough game, for a number of reasons. We had played on the Saturday, and fought to get back from being 2-0 down, to win in pens. We also knew that Pershore had watched us and didn’t have a game that weekend so we knew they would be fresh and raring to go.

We approached the game as well as we could of with a few injuries occurring one being our 2nd top goal scorer Freddie Kennedy. Despite this we went with confidence. Once the game started it was clear to see Pershore went into a 442 shape to match us up, they were well drilled and knew exactly what they were doing. We had a game plan to deal with the way they played, however poor decision making left us 1-0 down quite early on. The message was to not panic, however from pure laziness and lack of quality we found ourself 2-0 at the break.

We came out second half and started to get on top, but moving the ball quickly in there half. We was rewarded by some smart play and a great strike by Jordan Godfrey. The game flipped and pershore looked shaken. However instead of capitalising on this we gave them a goal moments later through poor decision making again.

Credit to Pershore, they looked fitter and better on the ball than us, we were in the games at time but you can’t give a 2-0 lead to arguably the favourites to win the league. We dust ourself off and go into our first local derby against Abingdon United with a big point to prove.
