The game starting to exactly how we wanted, we got the ball in Littletons half at pace, and then was calm and collective in possession stringing together a large number of passes. This set the game up for us and We couldn’t have asked for a better start. During the 1st 30 mins we did everything right apart from score, and became a little frustrated which allowed Littleton to have a spell and look threatening. Our biggest threat was becoming frustrated and lazy which resulted in us giving the ball away cheaply in spells. Mikeys McKirnan effort at the end of some good play deserved to be a goal yet was denied by the woodwork. After a 10 minute spell of being frustrated we got back to playing and was rewarded with a goal from Freddie Kennedy just before half time.
In previous seasons Milton had been guilty of conceding right after half time so the aim was to make sure we stayed switch on, however we didn’t want to settle for 1-0 we wanted to up the gears. After being hard to beat for 15 minutes, we scored from a great corner taken by Matty Woodley, finding Oggy in the box. Something we had worked on in training which made it even sweeter.
Our 3rd goal which in my opinion was the best of the 3, started by pressing from the front. It was won by Kieran cooper, who then played the ball to Finn Baker, who played a great through ball to into the box, which Louis Joyce locked onto before scoring his 1st of the season. Littleton in all fairness to them never stopped and scored in the 90 + minute, it was frustrating for us as we had spoke about keeping our standards for 90 minutes and we become complacent in the final minutes. However if you’d of said we would of won the game 3-1 a week ago we would have been more than happy. MOM was Harry Sturgess who was quality for 90 minutes both defensively and going forward. We wish Littleton all the best for the rest of the season and we now focus on our first local derby of the season against Kidlington away on Tuesday night. UTM
