Going into this Vase game was a free hit for the club, it’s a great competition to be in and it was a day that brought the club together even more through the big coach taking players and a few fans.
Despite it being a free hit. We wanted to win and keep our winning mentality, we started the game ok but eased our way to be the better team and we kept a lot of the ball. After having good chances both ways we found ourselves 1-0 up though a decent goal from Kieran Cooper.
The message at half time was to go back and continue playing the same way but add a few little aspects. The main message was to be tight for the first 15 mins as we knew they were going to come out fast from their team talk which I think the whole stadium heard.
We, however, did the opposite, and after Freddie went 1v1 and missed a clear-cut chance we found ourselves 3-1 down in 15 mins!!!
We spent the rest of the half chasing our tails and the game. It’s disappointing to lose the way we did and in that manner. The boys trained well Tuesday and we addressed issues and we are buzzing to get back to league action and hopefully get back to winning ways Saturday. We wish our fellow local team, Wallingford, all the best as they play Little Common in the next round of the Vase!
Thanks for the support of the club and the fans/parents who made the trip there and back great.
