CHELTENHAM SARACENS v MILTON UNITED

We travelled to Cheltenham after a weeks rest from football. It being a cup game we wanted to keep using the squad depth we had yet we went in wanting a good performance and a win against a team that are in our league.

The boys warmed up sharply and looked good. We however started very poor and the pitch did not allow us to play the football we wanted too. We didn’t adapt to it and in conclusion made a lot of silly mistakes and looked slow to react and gain our shape. We did however score the first goal from getting the ball out wide and Kieran Cooper finding Louis Joyce in the box for a tap in.

We went in 1-0 up with a better second half needed. We started better and started to move the ball better. Then conceded a poor corner at the back post after Timmy saved well in the build up. Tensions grew and the game became very scrappy. We brought some fresh legs on and changed our formation. Soon after with patient and good play came a great finish from Freddie. We grew in confidence and was again rewarding after Kieran picked up the ball and put one in the roof of the net. After that the game slowed right down and we was never in doubt.

We are still not where we want to be but we are getting the right results and that’s all that’s the main thing.

We take on Newent in the league at home which becomes the first of 6 home games in a row in the lead up to the Vase match against a team in the league above.
