Stunning debut win for new Ladies team

Saturday saw the first female league game for a Milton United side after the Ex Didcot Casuals sides moved a few miles to the outskirts of the town to make use of the superb facilities on offer @The Heights and secure the continuation of local girls football in the area.
After a slow start by the home side and a slight re positioning of players Milton soon found the form that they had shown during pre-season and the workrate they produced for the remaining 70mins was very impressive.

The scoreline didnt really reflect the effort Twyfords players made to make sure this was an entertaining game, Milton were just the more clinical team in front of goal and all 8 goals were from good solid teamwork. Milton gave a debut chance to new goal keeper Molly Ripley, aged just 15, she was rarely called upon only being tested once from a corner where she punched the ball clear.
The other two new players making their first league apperances also at the age of 15 were never phased playing with the far older players. Ally Paton stood tall and strong in central defence and brought a new calmness to the side and with controlled football and great decision making Katie Miller scored 2 and was instrumental in the fantastic hard working midfield performance with Gemma Archer and Amy Westwood.

The wide players were the key today with Jordan Harris and Nat Mutamba using their pace to devastating effect and supported by Mollie Merrett and Maisie Thomson pushing them forward with great passes from the back.

The forward line of O'D & H work hard for the team throughout the entire game and the pair showed some lovely touched around the box. Most positive today was to have Emily Brown back after a season out with injury and she player 45mins during which her confidence grew and the smile returned.
With the small squad we have (13 players) we have to watch players fitness carefully and with Westy injured by half time we forced ourselves down to 10 players for the last 15mins with the game already won.

Very pleased with todays game, we lost 2 fast players for this season but gained several younger players who are real 'ballers and bring something we were missing in the past few season.

Scorers:

Katie Miller x 2
Jordan Harris x3
Gemma O'Donovan x3
