Nowell strike secures point at home to Chalfont Wasps.

Milton's new found team spirit and never say die attitude served them well on Saturday as they shared the points against Chalfont Wasps. Milton started the game with a chilling wind at their backs and had the best of the early chances. An opportunity came within the opening seconds when Chris Fowler's shot went just wide of the upright. Toby Nowell had a better chance after 20 minutes when he rounded the Wasps keeper only to see the away side's right back make a brilliant goal line clearance. But Nowell was not to be denied when he broke through the Chalfont defence a few minutes later and calmly placed the ball past the away keeper to give Milton a deserved lead. Wasps had their chances too as the half went on, hitting the woodwork on a couple of occassions but Milton held firm to go into the break with a 1-0 lead.
The second half started badly for Milton when their defence came under immense pressure repeatedly as they failed to clear their lines properly. Playing very deep they were allowing the away side to keep coming forward in droves. It was no surprise when Chalfont equalised from the penalty spot following a trip in the area on one of their lively forwards. Jean-Pierre Jamil levelled the scores sending keeper Paul Tasell the wrong way. After the goal Milton actually settled much better and pushed higher up the pitch to close the huge space between their midfield and front two. A substitution up front for Milton paid dividends and they began to create a few more opportunities. Andrew Styles saw a good effort from the edge of the Wasps' area sail just wide and Nowell might well have "nicked" all three points for the home side right at the end of the match. But in truth Chalfont had done more than enough to deserve at least a point and the game ended all square at 1-1. In recent games Milton have competed well and "held their own" against some very good opposition and they can take confidence from this fact. There is still much to do but things appear to be moving in the right direction both on and off the park. Final Score 1-1.
